Mrs. Edith Marie Dunkley Stowe, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on August 31, 1926 to Booker James Dunkley and Silla Collins Dunkley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemly Ace Stowe; one sister, Stella D. Wood; four brothers, Alvis James Dunkley, “Gene Dunkley, Harry Dunkley, and James Cecil Dunkley.
She enjoyed flowers and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Stowe (Sharon), and Jerry Stowe; five grandchildren, Lynette Goins (Herbert), Nicole Stowe-Holt (Brad), Dakotah Chaney (Leigh), Justin Stowe (Elizabeth), and Steven Goard (Regina); eight great-grandchildren, Stephanie Goard, Tyler Stowe-Holt, Ryan Chaney, Averie Stowe-Holt, Levi Chaney, Lukas Stowe, Jude Stowe, and Makayla Owens; three great-great grandchildren, Amelia Niten, J’Kaylin Sawyers, and Lorenzo Martinez; one sister, Nancy Foley; special cousin, Terry Lee Owens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mrs. Stowe will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Elder Bobby Rorrer officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O. Box 1301, Stuart, Va 24171.
