FRANK W. BULLINGTON
Frank Warren Bullington, 69, of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
He was born November 28, 1948, to the late Fredrick Curtis Bullington and Virginia Fulcher Scearce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fredrick C. Bullington and twin brother, John Wayne Bullington.
He was a member of Mayo Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susie Nance Bullington of the home; daughters, Beverly and husband Frankie Stone of Danville, and Stephanie and William Trent of Spencer; sisters, Virginia Ann and John B. Rodgers of Spencer, Pat and Barry Brown of Danville, and Janice Turner and son Sam of Stuart; grandchildren, Cole and Cody Trent of Spencer; and special fur baby, Pepper.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 30, at Norris Funeral Services’ Stuart Chapel with Pastors Curt Ashley and Mark Lawless officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

ROBERT A. BIGGS
Robert Alvin Biggs, 90, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at SOVAH Health Martinsville.
He was born March 30, 1927, in Patrick County, to the late Robert and Bertie Stowe Biggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby McMillian Biggs; and a sister, Frances Ingram.
He proudly served in the United States Army, and was a member of Rich Acres Christian Church. He was a supervisor for Pannill Knitting Company with over 40 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Penny Bishop; sons, Larry Biggs and Barry (Judy) Biggs; sister, Lois Turner (Herman); grandchildren, Kristy (Billy) Howell, Nicki Biggs, Austin Ryals and Jude Bishop; and great-grandchildren, Ben Turner and Blake Ferguson.
The funeral was held Monday, April 2, at Rich Acres Christian Church with Pastor Tim Hunt and Pastor Creighton Beatty officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors performed by the Henry County Honor Guard.

GLENDA R. EGGLESTON
Glenda Ruth Eggleston, 63, of Figsboro Road, Martinsville, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018, at her residence.
She was born on May 5, 1954, to Ruth Brodie Eggleston of Stuart and the late James Thomas Eggleston.
She was a member of Chatham Heights Christian Church and attended Edwards Adult Daycare. She retired after 25 years of service at the Marc Workshop.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Teresa Eggleston of the home; brothers, Terry J. Eggleston and wife Lisa of Brandenburg, Ky., and David Eggleston of Martinsville; her nieces, Adrianne Martin, Jessica Branch and Ashley Compton; a nephew, Robert Eggleston; a great niece, Kailey Martin; and great nephews, Shawn Doyle, Keaton Martin and Travis Eggleston.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Minister Dean Ashby officiating. Visitation will held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services tonight (Wednesday, April 4) and other times at the residence. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.

MILDRED R. GEARS
Mildred Rucker Gears, 82, formerly of Martinsville, passed away, Monday, March 26, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 17, 1935, in Patrick County, to the late Harold and Naomi Scales Rucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Alexander Gears, and brothers, Boyd Rucker and Howard Rucker.
She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and attended Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Chestnut Knob Ruritan Club and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and joking around.
She is survived by her daughter, Lesley Gears; son, Anthony Gears (Brenda); sister, Catherine Spencer (William); brothers, James Rucker (Novella), Kenneth Rucker (Linda) and Dillon Rucker; grandchildren, Khelley Gears, Alonzo Gears, Kymberly Gears, Teddy Giles, and Isaiah Gears; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Friday, March 30, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with Roy Rucker officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.

MOIR G. HAIRFIELD
Moir Griggs Hairfield, 75, of Critz, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 25, 1942, in Henry County to the late Charlie Leftwich and Alma Davis Griggs Hairfield._Moir was a member of Gospel Baptist Church, graduated from Drewry Mason H.S. Class of 1961, and attended Elon and VPI where he studied mathematics._He was a member of the U.S. Army where he rose to the rank of SP5. He started working in the financial field with GMAC, and then spent over 30 years as a leader in the banking community. He retired as manager at American National Bank.
He, an avid golfer, and Gene Chaney were instrumental in starting the Tri-County Senior Men’s Golf League._He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Jo Anne L. Hairfield of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sami H. and Randy Moody of Greenville, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Randle Griggs Moody and Ann Elise Moody of Greenville._The funeral service was held Monday, April 2, in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Payton Gilbert officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.

MYRTLE D. HOLLANDSWORTH
Myrtle D. Hollandsworth, 92, of Bassett, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018.
She was born in Woolwine on April 18, 1925, to the late Mertin and Dela Belcher Dillon. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Jewel L. Conner Sr. and Robert L. Hollandsworth; a daughter, Linda Jane Edwards; sisters, Marie Barbour, Jewel Hayden and Jeanette Pennelton; brothers, Bobby Dillon and Green Dillon; one great-great grandchild, Leland Childers; and a stepson, Kenny Hollandsworth.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Conner Miller, Glen Allen Conner, Cecil “Clinton” Conner; Jewel L. Conner Jr., Danny Hollandsworth, Barbara Hollandsworth and Bill Hollandsworth; sisters, Jean Hughes and Elva Fulcher; brothers, Avery Dillon, Lonnie Dillon and Allen Dillon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The funeral service was held Thursday, March 29 at Bassett Funeral Service chapel. Burial was in Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Woolwine.
BERNICE S. IRVIN
Bernice Spangler Irvin, age 88, of Meadows of Dan, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, at her home.
She was born on February 1, 1930, in Patrick County to the late Babe Dudley and Sara Spangler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Irvin; two daughters, Sheila Marie Bowman and Rebecca Ann Rakes; two grandsons, Michael Wayne Rakes and Charles Travis Rakes; and a half-sister, Nellie Wheeler.
She was a longtime member of Mayberry Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Patrick County School Board and was active in various rescue squads in Meadows of Dan._Surviving are a son, Michael Rakes of Meadows of Dan; one grandson, Christopher Blevins; one sister, Margie Cartwright of Meadows of Dan; one brother, W.W. Spangler of Greensboro, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews._A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart from 2 to 4 p.m.

JAMES A. MOORE
James Alfred Moore was born on December 26, 1952 in Patrick County to the late Fred Moore and Jeanette George Moore Moir. He departed this life on March 30, 2018, at his home in Stuart.
He was married to the love of his life, Phyllis Brown Moore. He passed just three days before celebrating 42 years of marriage to Phyllis. To this union, three sons and one daughter were born.
James was a graduate of Patrick County High School’s Class of 1971. He attended college in Richmond, majoring in accounting. He worked at Westinghouse Turbine Plant until retirement.
After retiring, he started his own business, Moore Repair Service, full time. He loved having his daughter as his helper. He loved being outdoors. He cut wood for his mother, widows, and others in the community. He was a “Jack of all trades”. He enjoyed his acreage, was an avid hunter, and absolutely loved to fish.
Brother Moore was a member of Hylton Thessalonia Primitive Baptist Church since September 28, 1997. He was a faithful servant who could be counted on to always be on hand to work around his church. He was a very busy person, not only at this church, but also in his community.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Phyllis Moore of the home; his loving mother, Jeanette Moir of Stuart; his sons, Preston (Ute) Moore of Mons, Belgium and Brandon Moore of Richmond; a daughter, Katie Lynn (Tim) Tolley; four grandchildren: Dion, Zavier, Nia, and Gabriel; one brother, Robert (Sandra) Moore, and one sister, Deborah (Arthur) Carter; his mother-in-law, Marie Brown; his sisters-in-law,: Linda (Allen) Ludwig, Prestonia (Hampton) Kier and Angela (Michael) Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Moore; and son, Jason Moore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. Burial will immediately follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
A wake will be held from noon until time of the service at the funeral home.

ETHEL O. OUSLEY
Ethel Odesser Ousley, 92, of Fieldale, died Thursday, March 29, 2018.
She was born in Patrick County. on January 11, 1926, the youngest of 10 children born to Richard and Clara White Griffith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Clevie Elmer Ousley; a daughter, Rachel Ousley Weddle; five sisters, Alice Griffith, Bertha Boyd, Florence McAlexander, and Dorothy Thomas; and five brothers, Denzer, Milford, Buran, Harley, and Leonard Griffith; and a stepson, Barry Ousley.
She was retired from Bassett Chair Co. where she gave 17 years of loyal service to the upholstery dept. Coworkers and friends alike knew her as “Mamma.” Indeed, she was a mamma to all those who loved and knew her as a tolerant, generous, kind, and forgiving friend._Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Dewey Shelton of Ridgeway and Mary and Robert Bolt of Bassett; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Mary Sue Ousley of Christiansburg; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Ousley of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a special niece, Marie Goad; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends._The celebration of life service was held Monday, April 2, at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd with Pastor Ricky Boyd and Pastor Mike Bond officiating. Burial was in the Cox Cemetery in Dugspur.

NANCY T. PILSON
Nancy Lee Turner Pilson 88, of Woolwine, passed away March 27, 2018.
She was born in Patrick County on August 17, 1929, to the late Claude and Venie Wood Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Pilson; fiancée, Floyd Bryant; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Claude Albert Turner Jr., Ralph Turner and Mr. & Mrs. Richard Turner.
She was a beloved retired teacher in Patrick, County with over 30 years of service. _She is survived by two daughters, Natalie P. Cooke (Rodney) and Nancy Caroline Pilson (Dennis Wilson); grandchildren, Josh Nester (Audrey) and Chelsea Nester Sprinkle (William Curry); great grandchildren, Jacob Nester and Elizabeth Nester; sister-in-law, Lillian Turner; and several nieces and nephews. _Funeral services were held Friday, March 30 in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. Jamie Lee Trent, age 45, of Stuart, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on January 30, 1973. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lee Trent Sr.; a brother, Johnny Maynard; a nephew, Jerry Lee Trent III; and a niece, Melissa Jones.
Jamie was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Surviving are his mother, Priscilla “Pat” Trent Maynard of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry Trent Jr. and Vicky of Woolwine and Raymond Lee Trent and Angie of Georgia; one sister, Katherine Sue Jones of Beckley, W.Va.; nieces, Tabitha Trent, Britney Trent, Brandi Trent and Angie Jones; and other aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
