The Kibler Valley River Run is a five-mile down river race held annually on the Dan River in Ararat. Section 1 of the Dan River is rated as Class II-III rapids. The upper portion of this five-mile run is tight and technical, especially the first half mile.
The river drops at 58 feet per mile in the first two miles and 38 feet per mile for the second half. Be prepared for a fun run!
Kibler Valley has an activity to match everyone’s interests whether guiding a kayak through the roaring whitewater or simply taking in the scenery of the Blue Ridge. Several hundred people gather along the Dan River for this event sponsored by the Red Bank Ruritan Club in Patrick County.
Concessions will be available on site.
Admission is free for spectators.
