Patrick County residents had an opportunity Thursday, Aug. 6, to get a closer look at their county government during a community meeting with County Administrator Michael McGuinness.
The meeting was held at the Veterans Administration Building in Stuart, where McGuinness welcomed community members and provided a look at the offices and the people who work there.
Among those attending were Commissioner of Revenue Glennda Morse and other county officials.
Patrick County Tourism had a table set up in the hallway with tourism information, while refreshments were available for visitors following the meeting.
McGuinness’ wife, Lou, helped with the refreshments while McGuinness spoke with visitors about the various offices housed in the building.
The group then moved into the administrative offices, where McGuinness explained the work that takes place there and introduced residents to the people who serve the county each day.
McGuinness said he is proud of the county’s employees and described them as a dedicated team.
The informal meeting provided residents with an opportunity to ask questions, meet county officials and gain a better understanding of the day-to-day work that goes on behind the scenes of county government.
