Patrick County High School graduate, Erik Martinez-Tejeda, signed to continue his baseball career as a Patrick & Henry Patriot.
Tatum said, “Playing at the collegiate level has always been my dream since a very young age. I began playing at the age of three locally on rec teams and then played Dixie Youth baseball. I fell in love with the game when I began playing travel baseball with the Virginia Braves, a local organization. I have always played the position of catcher. Baseball has always been my number one sport through the years. Being an athlete has taught me character, the importance of teamwork, work ethic, and leadership. I am thankful for all the support and encouragement from all my coaches with the Virginia Braves and Patrick County High School, my family and teammates. Most importantly none of this would be possible without my Lord. Psalm 28:7 says, ‘The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.’”
In attendance for the signing: Front row (l-r) Father Alejandro Martinez, Brother Erik Martinez-Tejeda, Mother Ana Tejeda Martinez, Back row (l-r) PCHS Coach Sonny Swails, PCHS Coach Tal Swails, Brother Reyli Martinez-Tejeda, PCHS JV Coach Scott Errichetti, Brother Ian Martinez-Tejeda, PCHS Michael Hall, Virginia Braves Coach Mike Gregory.
