Girl Scout Troop 1302 had five girls earn their Bronze Award in Girl Scouting.
The Bronze is the first of the highest awards in Girl Scouting. Next comes Silver and then Gold (equal to Boy Scout Eagle). These five girls were Jazzmin Glenn, Abigail Hall, Rebecca Handy, Natalie Lawrence and Taylor Ragsdale.
For their award, the girls painted the parking lines in the Providence UMC parking lot in both areas of the church. The girls spent 20 hours on this project and were proud of their results. The church congregation was very pleased to have the lines done so they could better park in the parking lots.
To add to this, the girls pulled weeds around the church and packed the backpacks for the church to take to Patrick Springs Primary School (PSPS).
The girls will now start work on their Silver Award which will be a bit more work and time. They must spend 50 hours on the project of their choosing and have a bit more paperwork to do as well.
These projects help the girls become more involved in their communities, learn leadership skills, develop many new tasks and learn how to work as a team.
