National Independent Championship Wrestling (NICW) will host its fourth annual Halloween Mayhem event on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Stuart Rotary Memorial Building, featuring three championship matches and a tribute to a longtime wrestling manager.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with the first match beginning at 7 p.m.
Scott Rutter, of Rutter’s Martial Arts, said the show will honor Douglas J. Wentworth III, a longtime wrestling manager who died of cancer last year.
“He was very well-known amongst the fans, and he’s been a wrestling manager for probably 25 years or more,” Rutter said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Riders program of American Vets Post 35 in Collinsville.
“It’s their motorcycle program that does a lot for the community, so we’re doing it to help benefit the riders,” Rutter said.
The event is expected to feature approximately five matches, including three championship contests.
Scheduled matches include Anthony Xavier vs. Larry Cooter for the NICW World Heavyweight Championship; “Team USA” Scott Lee and Tony Ray vs. “Appalachian Wrecking Crew” Daniel Craig and Josh Tart for the NICW World Tag Team Championship; and “Shang Hai” Pierce Jr. vs. Adam Hex for the NICW Mid-Atlantic Heritage Championship.
Other wrestlers scheduled to appear include Ace Englund, Brad Taylor, Daniel Ocean, Scorpion Jr., Black Scorpion, Hillbilly Joe, “Ragin’ Rebel” Robert Stanley, Joe Brody and Cuban Assassin.
Sponsors include Rutter’s Martial Arts, Lawless Welding & Fabrication Inc. and Impressive Prints & Designs.
Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for children. Those wearing Halloween costumes will receive discounted admission of $12 for adults and $10 for children. Children aged 5 and younger will be admitted free.
