The 14th Annual Strawberry Festival was held at Uptown Stuart on Saturday, May 20.  The newly re-formed Patrick County Lions Club participated.

A booth was set up for recruitment and the sale of raffle tickets, jars of peanuts and their well-known brooms. It was a great day with lots of people coming by the booth and talking about the Lions Club.  The newly reconstructed club wants to let folks know that they desire to re-establish their civic role in Patrick County.The club has a trash pick-up day scheduled for June 8 on Kibler Valley Rd. Volunteers will meet at the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office at 10 a.m. and travel to the area to clean up. This area of the county has been brought to their attention and they saw the need.

The Patrick County Lions Club is committed to the familiar theme of helping those in need see clearly. In 1925, Helen Keller charged the Lions Club with seeking “the day when there shall be no preventable blindness.” To this goal, the club hopes to be conducting vision checks and helping folks receive glasses.

They are also in need of usable eyewear to recycle and reuse. There are currently three drop-off locations in Patrick County for usable eyewear: the office of Dr. Jorge Gonzalez (Woodland Dr.), and Moody and Norris Funeral Homes.If interested in the mission of the Patrick County Lions Club or in joining this recently revised club, contact the club president, Kevin Vaughan at (276) 620-8069.
