Patrick County voters are invited to meet the Democratic candidate for the 9th District House of Delegates seat, Stephanie Cook, at a community picnic at DeHart Park in Stuart on Aug. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m., according to a release form the Patrick County Democratic Committee.
Cook, from the Franklin County, is a first-time candidate focused on fighting for working families.
“I’m running because people in this area deserve a delegate who is willing to fight for them, to be a true representative of their needs. I am determined to stand up for our workers and families to create a more just and secure commonwealth,” Cook said in the release.
Roscoe Reynolds, a former state senator and delegate, will introduce the candidate.
Local bluesman Les Moore will perform, beginning at 5 p.m.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the large picnic shelter, with light picnic fare served.
