Four trophies were awarded during STEP’s first car show in Stuart. Pictured (left to right) are Stuart Town Manager Terry Tilley, Fred East, Charles Spence, Jimmy Williams, Herbert McAlexander, and STEP Executive Director Marc Crouse.

Solutions That Empower People (STEP) Inc. raised more than $1,700 and awarded four trophies during its first car show held in Stuart last Saturday.

Jimmy Williams of Spencer took first place in the popular vote for his 1974 orange Ford Maverick. Charles Spence of Patrick Springs won second place for his 1966 black Ford F100. Honorable mention went to Fred East of Claudville for his 1955 Chevy pickup, and the People’s Choice trophy went to Herbert McAlexander of Danbury, N.C., for his 1951 Ford pickup.

The car show was held at Patrick County High School with the support of the Town of Stuart and Patrick County Parks and Recreation. Sponsors for the event were Mount Regis Center and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. Stuart Town Manager Terry Tilley served as emcee for the day.
