On November 7th I will vote for Stephanie Cook because we must have representation in Richmond for our economic survival.
In the age of automation, jobs in our region are disappearing. Stephanie Cook, running for delegate in our district, says we must change the ways in which we view jobs and the economy in order to survive this transition.
Cook believes diverse economies are the most stable and as our delegate, she will work to increase funding to programs that invest in small and midsize businesses and will ensure that tax breaks given to companies are done so in return for increased jobs and investment in Virginia’s economy, ending corporate handouts.
According to Cook, she will work with our local governments to help create friendly zoning ordinances that attract businesses, invest in expanding access to high-speed internet and cell phone service to draw companies in growth industries and commit to career and technical education, ensuring that our students are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.
In line with Cook’s own experience as a working parent, she knows families are feeling the pinch, working overtime and still barely scraping by. Stephanie states that hard-working people sit down with a stack of bills trying to figure out what they must pay now, and what can wait just so that they can make it to the next paycheck.
As our delegate, she will strive for better working conditions for all of us, so that no one who works full time will be living in poverty. In Cook’s opinion, every year, profits soar, wages stagnate, and inflation rises. While companies do better, working people’s job security and living standards continue to fall. This is not only unethical, it is unsustainable. I believe Stephanie Cook will do everything in her power to change this course.
