MARLENE ANNETTE BUXTON
Marlene Annette Buxton was born on September 19, 1935, in Miami, Fla. to Margaret and Adolf Vogl. She passed away on September 18, 2018.
She is survived by her husband, Billie, of Meadows of Dan; daughter, Elaine Little, of Meadows of Dan; son, Lou Baranello, of Portland, OR; and two stepdaughters, Donna Tilly and Linda (Lad) Tweedie, of Fla. She has 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She has a favorite cousin Billy Fisher who she grew up very close to, they were like brother and sister. She also leaves her very best friend since childhood, Nancy Allen.
She moved to Meadows of Dan in 2008 after falling in love with the mountain community and the music. She always loved people and they loved her back for her sweet, kindness and welcoming demeanor. Although she fought a long hard battle with Parkinson’s Disease she never complained, greeting each day with a smile. Perhaps the love of her life was her little dog and constant companion, Reggie, who was always by her side and will be forever.
In lieu of flowers, donate to the Parkinson’s Foundation. A graveside service was held at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church on Friday, September 21, 2018, with the Pastor Shawn Carter officiating. BEVERLY DAWN MITCHELL ANGLE
Beverly Dawn Mitchell Angle, age 50, of Ararat, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at her home. She was born in Surry County on December 16, 1967. She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter and she was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Rusty Angle; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Rebecca Angle, Bradley Angle, Anthony and Victoria Angle and Chris Angle; daughter, Amanda Angle; grandchildren, Koa, Alex, Branson, Tabber, Liah, Jordan, Bristol, Brittany, Jonathan, Jessica and Heaven; her mother and step father, Barbara and Grant Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Wayne Mitchell and her grandparents. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at White Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. ANNICE ANN BOWMAN PARKS
Annice Ann Bowman Parks, age 73, of Stuart, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Patrick County on October 19, 1944, to the late George Bowman and Dorothy Goins Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Bowman. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mama, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. She took joy in being granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Wilmer Wayne Parks of the home; five children, Vicky Pilson and husband Barry, of Stuart, Janet Hardin and husband, Steve, of Claudville, Debra Parks, of Stuart, Roy Parks and wife, Alberta, of Martinsville, and Ronald Parks, of Stuart; five grandchildren, Brandon Light and wife, Cynthia, Amber Light, Steve Hardin, III, Heather Bowers and Amber Adkins; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Edwards, of Pilot, N.C.; two brothers, Billy Bowman of Mount Airy, N.C., and Jimmy Bowman, of Collinsville; nieces and nephews.

ARNOLD LEWIS SCOTT
Arnold Lewis Scott, age 81, of Stuart, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on May 29, 1937, to the late Luther Douthford Scott and Annice Mae Foley Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brewster Scott; an infant brother; and two sisters, Eunice Synan and Phyllis Hanchey. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a respected logger most of his life. Affectionately known as Colonel, he will be remembered for his knack for storytelling and his ability to make people laugh. An avid reader, he was gentle and kindhearted and had a love of nature. Arnold was devoted to his family. He cherished being a daddy to his four children and a papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arnold was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Jeanette Williams Scott of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and David Chaney, Rozina and John Turner, and Daisy and Bernardo Hernandez, all of Stuart; one son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Cindy Scott, of Ferrum; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil Scott, Richard Scott, Wilbur Scott and wife, Arlene, Greene Lloyd Scott, all of Stuart; Elliott Scott and wife, Debra, of Penhook; one sister, Elaine Scott, of Rocky Mount and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home, in Stuart with Pastors Kenneth Terry and Michael Varner officiating. Military Rites were provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial was in the Scott-Foley Family Cemetery.
