obit Rakes, BebeBebe Georgette Rakes, age 53, of Bassett, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Henry County on September 12, 1962 and was preceded in death by her father, George Tyler Rakes. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Cassie L. Foley.
She was a member of Fairway Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and worked with the youth. She had been the office manager at Commercial Fyr-Fyters. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially during the fall season.
Surviving are two sons, Travis Dwayne Hambrick and wife Kayla of Bassett and Joshua Tyler Hambrick of Stuart; three grandchildren, Riley Tanner Hambrick, Raylan Kaleb Hambrick and Hailey Lynn Hambrick; her mother and stepfather, Shirlee Foley Powell and Forrest L. Powell Jr. of Bassett; one sister, Cindy Rakes Seay of Fieldale; one stepsister, Deborah Baar of Smith Mountain Lake; one stepbrother, Lee Allen Powell of Wirtz; and two nephews, Sean Seay and Brian Seay.
Funeral services were held Friday at Fairway Baptist Church with Pastors Kirk Montgomery and Rick Randall officiating. Burial was in New Hope Church of the Brethren cemetery.
