The Stuart Town Council will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 (tonight) at the town office on Patrick Ave.
The proposed budget for 2016-2017 includes $870,300 in the general fund, $168,000 in the sanitation fund, and $656,200 in the combined water and sewer fund, for a total of $1.694,500.
Anticipated revenues include $250,000 in current real estate taxes, $325,000 in meals taxes, and $140,000 in business taxes.
The town budget provides a 3% salary increase for employees but does not require a tax increase or increase in utility rates, Mayor Ray Weiland said.
Weiland and Town Manager Terry Tilley are expected to give reports to the town council at tonight’s meeting.
