Awards for the VFW Patriot Pen Student Essay contest for Sammy Martin VFW #7800 were presented to recipients on Dec. 6 by Quartermaster/Adjutant, Roy Jones. Ava Burnett was awarded 1st place in the contest and Mrs. Feron Brim was awarded Teacher of Year. Both Burnett and Brim are from Blue Ridge Elementary. The awards were giving during the schools Spelling Bee competition.
