Tax relief applications mailed

Real estate tax relief applications for the Elderly & Handicapped were mailed from the Commissioner of Revenue’s office to those who qualified last year and to those who requested applications for this year. Applications are due March 1st of the taxable year, if the date is on a weekend the due date is the following Monday.

If you are a Patrick County resident age 65 or older, and/or were 100% disabled on Dec. 31, 2019, and you meet the requirements, you could receive a reduction in your real estate taxes up to $300.  The combined gross income of the household for 2019 year cannot exceed $24,000, financial net worth cannot exceed $100,000. The net worth limit excludes up to $100,000 for the assessed value of the residence and up to one acre surrounding the residence, other requirements must be meet.

The Commissioner of the Revenue office is located in room 220 in the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Building, located at 106 Rucker Street, Stuart, or call (276) 694-7131.
