Frances will be remembered for her faith in God and utter devotion to her son. Should you see one, you would generally see the other. Jeff will be remembered for being a loving son and having a great sense of humor.
When Jeff was ready to conclude a visit or ready for bed, he would say, “I am going up.” He said this in reference to going upstairs to his bedroom; now Jeff and his beloved mother have “gone up” together to be with Jesus and all their loved ones who have “gone up” before.
Frances and Jeff are survived by one sister/aunt, Linda Nelson and husband, Dewey of Ararat; two brothers/uncles, Carl Smith and wife, Zettie of Abingdon and Marvin Smith of Cana, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and caregivers.

Mrs. Frances Smith Joyce, age 87 of Stuart, Virginia passed away on June 18, 2020, Sovah Health of Martinsville and twenty-one hours later, her son Jeffery Lee Hill , age 62 of Stuart, passed away June 19, 2020, at Forsyth Medical Center. They were preceded in death by husband/stepfather, Lawrence Joyce; parents/grandparents, Jess Smith and Virginia Smith; sister/aunt, Ruby Goad; and brother/uncle, Glen Smith.
