The Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) volleyball team has announced its 2016 fall schedule as it looks to defend the NJCAA Region X regular season and post season championships.
The Lady Patriots tip off the season with two exhibition matches at home on August 20 against Bryant & Stratton College at 10 a.m. and Pitt Community College (N.C.) at 2 p.m. The regular season begins with a trip to Guilford Tech (N.C.) on August 23.
PHCC’s home opener at Collins Gymnasium is a doubleheader August 27 against regional rival Danville Community College at 10 a.m. and against Lenoir CC (N.C.) at 2 p.m. The team hosts another match on the 31st facing Davidson County CC (N.C.).
The Lady Patriots make a trip to Rockingham CC (N.C.) on September 7, but then host four home matches in a row: Wake Tech CC (N.C.) at 10 a.m. and Walters State (Tenn.) at 2 p.m. on September 10, Rockingham CC on the 14th, and Central Carolina CC (N.C.) on the 15th.
The team travels to Louisburg College (N.C.) on September 20 and then hosts Guilford Tech the following day. After this match, the team preps for four upcoming matches on the road, facing Pitt CC (September 24), Central Carolina CC (September 28), and Vance-Granville CC in a double header (September 30).
Surry Community College visits Martinsville on October 1 before the Lady Patriots take another road trip facing Danville CC at Averett University on October 3, Davidson County CC on the 5th, and then a doubleheader on the 8th against Lenoir CC at 2 p.m. and Bryant & Stratton College at 4 p.m. with both games being played at Bryant & Stratton in Buffalo, N.Y.
PHCC hosts “Dig Pink Night” to raise breast cancer awareness on October 14 when it faces Louisburg CC. To close out the regular season the Lady Patriots host a double header against Sandhills CC (N.C.) on October 15 when the Lady Patriot sophomore will be recognized between games.
The NJCAA Region X Tournament is slated for October 22 at Sandhills CC in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Patriots return four players from last year’s team, including All-Region X First Team selections Sydney Garrett and Mikayla Holland, All-Region X Honorable Mention honorees Janika Hunt and Randi Robertson, and Region X Coach of the Year Kelly Proffitt.
