The Lady Cougars traveled to James River for the first round of regional play. The Cougars jumped out to a quick lead, going on to take a 62-12 win over the Lady Rapids. Sierra Hubbard had 18 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal, and 3 assists for the Cougars. Missy Hazard had 11 points, 9 of them being the three-point line, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Abigail Epperson added 8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 assists for the Lady Cougars.
Coach Donny Rakes said, “This was a really good win for the kids. They shared the ball well, got out on the break well, and made good decisions. We didn’t shoot it well in the 1st quarter with a lot of good looks. However, we didn’t lose confidence, and most importantly, we didn’t transfer to the defensive end. We depend on creating our offense with our defense by forcing turnovers and getting into an open court game. We did that well tonight. We are going to need that going forward
