The PC Baseball Team hosted Bassett on April 26, defeating the Bengals 3-2.
Seniors Garrett Leftwich and Lane Taylor pitched an outstanding game, combining for 14 strikeouts. Leftwich started the game, pitching 3 innings, giving up 2 runs, 1 earned and 1 on hit, striking out 7 and walking 2.
Taylor went the final 4 innings and picked up the win in relief. Taylor gave up 0 runs on 2 hits, struck out 7, and walked 1.
The Cougars had 10 hits, led by Camden Nowlin and Jai Penn, contributing 2 hits each. Nowlin, Penn, and Tucker Swails had 1 RBI each.
Head Coach Tal Swails said, “It was a typical early season game. We had multiple base running errors and a couple of defensive miscues on our part. Great to win the first game, but the game shouldn’t have been as close as it was. We have a week before we go to Tunstall, so we will work on some of the areas we need to clean up.”
The Cougars traveled to Tunstall Tuesday.
