The Virginia Emergency Management Association will present Steve Allen, recently retired Emergency Management Coordinator with Patrick County, the prestigious Stanley Everett Crigger Humanitarian Award at the upcoming Patrick County Board of Supervisors Meeting on Monday, July 12 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Patrick County Administration Building at 106 Rucker Street in Stuart.
This award recognizes the emergency management professional who has served others with empathy, kindness, and compassion through their work. This award is named in honor of the late Stan Crigger, who demonstrated these qualities to his colleagues and community relentlessly throughout his life and career. It acknowledges that emergency management is more than hours on the job, but a service to others.
Allen personifies the meaning of this award, having served the community for more than 25 years with 14 of those as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Patrick County. Steve is the consummate professional, is compassionate, creative, and resourceful- many of the same endearing qualities as the award namesake shared.
This award was issued in 2020 but presentation delayed due to COVID response.
Representatives from the Virginia Emergency Management Association, along with personnel from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, will be on hand to present his award.
