Mrs. Peggy Jean Marshall Foley, age 84 of Stuart, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, at her home. She was born in Henry County on August 10, 1936, to the late Alvin Willis Marshall and Agnes Foley Marshall. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foley was preceded in death by her husband, Novel Austin Foley.
Peggy lived a rich, full life and will be forever missed by her family and friends. Her passing creates a wound that will never heal in all of our hearts. We will always remember her sense of humor, vivid storytelling, and no-nonsense advice. “Where there is a will, there is a way”, “It’s not what you know, but who you know”, and “Be careful what you wish for because you might get it”, were all favorite expressions.
Peggy was generous, kind-hearted, perseverant, and creative. She inspired and supported her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took pride in their accomplishments. With the love of her life, her husband Novel, Peggy’s days were filled with work and adventure. Her many hobbies included reading, gardening, and needlework of all kinds. She loved sharing her cooking skills and the time for fun and fellowship around the table she created. While she enjoyed her many travels across the United States and to Europe, Peggy always loved her Patrick County home and view of Bull Mountain best. “Go rest high on that mountain”.
Mrs. Foley is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy J. and Rick Hutchens of Ridgeway; a son and son-in-law, Dan Joyce and Al Davis of North Redington Beach, FL; grandson Joshua Whitlow and wife, Lori, granddaughter Katie Whitlow; three great-grandchildren, Austin Whitlow, Emma Whitlow, and Jack Dodson; and a sister, Wanda Gray Marshall of Stuart.
