The 68th annual Patrick County Agricultural Fair, along with all activities, has been canceled due to concerns with the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
Paula Drady, a member of the Rotary Club of Stuart, said the Patrick County Fair Board made the decision based on the Rotarian motto of ‘Service Above Self.’
“With surging cases, we can’t conceivably guarantee anybody’s safety – the volunteers or the visitors. It’s just too dangerous with the rising case numbers,” she said.
The 2021 Fair Book will be available and distributed around the county and surrounding areas the first week of September.
“We plan to do as we have always done and get copies to as many businesses and agencies as possible, and from there into the hands of as many individuals as possible,” she said.
The Rotary Club is also considering holding the Spring Demolition Derby, which is usually on the same day as the Strawberry Festival.
“Everything depends on what happens with COVID in Patrick County, and it doesn’t look good right now,” she said.
