The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce recently unveiled a life-sized LOVE artwork, now on display at the Blue Ridge Visitor Center.
Created as part of a state and local partnership to promote travel and tourism, the artwork is an extension of the 50-year-old “Virginia is for Lovers” brand, one of the most beloved and iconic slogans in the world.
The Meadows of Dan is one of nearly 300 [confirmed with VTC] giant LOVE letters, called LOVEworks, in communities across the Commonwealth.
‘”Virginia is for Lovers” is about doing the things you love to do on vacation with the people you love most,”’ said Rita McClenny, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. “The new LOVEwork at the Visitor Center captures that idea perfectly and gives you an authentic sense of place as it showcases our love for the Blue Ridge Parkway and surrounding area. We are excited that Meadows of Dan will help us share the LOVE with travelers, helping them to discover for themselves why Virginia is for Lovers.”
Each LOVE installation is a reflection of the community in which it stands, and the Meadows of Dan LOVEwork is no exception.
This LOVEwork is a great representation of the surrounding community. The L is our version of the Blue Ridge Parkway logo, the O is a water wheel in ode to the Mabry Mill and surrounding mills, V is two wine bottles representing the two wineries along the parkway, Chateau Morrisette and Villa Appalaccia, and the E is musical instruments representing the rich heritage of music and our ties to The Crooked Road.
“We are excited to have this LOVEwork installed right along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Every year, thousands stop in Meadows of Dan for shopping and dining. We hope tourists and residents alike will enjoy the LOVE sign as well,” Rebecca Adcock, Chamber of Commerce Director stated.
Visitors to the LOVEwork are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. Be sure to share your photos on social media using #LOVEVA and #PCVA.
