Dorothy Christine Claybrooks Penn, 77, of Ridgeway, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Rockingham County, N.C., on May 1, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Martin and Mary Pratt Claybrooks.
She was disabled from W.M. Bassett and was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board, choir, missionary, and mothers board; and as the pastor’s aide.
Surviving are three daughters, Vivian Penn of Ridgeway, and Dorothy Lipford and Della Carter, both of Axton; four sons, Marshall Claybrooks and Tony Penn, both of Ridgeway, George Penn of Patrick Springs, and Reed Penn of Martinsville; four sisters, Beulah Watkins, Ruby Moore and Mary Spencer, all of Stoneville, N.C,. and Roselle Dalton of Madison, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Antonio Logan officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Hines Funeral Services.
