The Patrick County Girl Scouts gathered on May 16 at PUMC to give recognitions to the girls in Troops 344 and 1302. The girls earned many badges and patches with all their events and activities this year.
The troops had three girls that are Ambassador Girl Scouts and will be graduating from PCHS this year. Emily Barley Troop 344, Callie Crowell Troop 1302 and Jalyssa Wagoner Troop 1302. Each of these girls
received scholarships from their troops to help with college.
Callie and Jalyssa also received their Triumph Awards which means that while in scouts they earned their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards which are the highest awards in Girl Scouts. These two also for earning their Triumph Award will receive a lifetime membership in Girl Scouting.
Aryanna Loop was recognized for earning her Bronze Award, so she is off to working on her Silver Award next year in Cadette Scouts.
All the girls received the badges and patches they earned throughout the year and the awards they earned from their nut/candy sales. The girls have worked hard earning badges and patches for themselves, but they also earned patches for community service projects they did to help out in their communities.
Several scouts worked on cleaning up the Butterfly Garden at Patrick Springs Primary School, others planted the flowers at PUMC and at camporee the girls planted a tree for Earth Day at Dominion Valley Park. They also help out at their schools, churches, and communities as needed.
Many thanks to the Patrick communities for the support given to the Patrick County Girl Scouts. They plan to be back at the fair this fall. Nuts, candy and cookies will be for sale again in the fall and next spring.
