The Lady Cougars played Chatham in the 2nd round of the regional tournament Thursday, May 26. It was anyone’s game, but the Lady Cavaliers proved to be too much, beating Patrick County 4-3. McKenzie Holt and Abigail Epperson combined for 14 strikeouts from the circle. Holt pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 runs. Epperson pitched 5 innings, giving up no earned runs.
Brooke Meade had 2 hits for the Cougars.
Lauren Fulcher had a huge 3 run homer in the 6th to tie the game.
Lainie Hopkins added a triple. Epperson added a hit for the Lady Cougars.
Coach Ryan Pendleton said, “we had our chances, but the girls played hard and never gave up.”
