The Patrick County Library is hosting an exhibit of K. Joanne Hill’s photography of Patrick County’s Trail H.A.N.D.S. The hands were lovingly ornamented by talented artists from Patrick County or surrounding areas. Hill’s photographs capture the essence of each of the five concrete hands – the Heritage, Arts, Nature, Dreams, and Stories of our community.
Hill is a graduate of Stuart High School and Radford University (B.A., M.A., B.S.). She is an original member of the Patrick Henry Photography Club at the Reynolds Homestead under the tutelage of Sam Davis. Hill started photography as a hobby at the age of 60 when receiving a digital camera for her 60th birthday. She has attended many photography workshops in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia.
Hill’s work was chosen as ‘Best in Show’ at the Nancy Susan Reynolds Memorial Photography Show in 2018. She has won numerous ribbons at the Patrick County Agricultural Fair and numerous certificates for best photo of the month in the photography club. These were often published in The Enterprise.
Hill is retired from Patrick County Public Schools, where she served as a speech pathologist and visiting teacher. She is a frequent user of the Patrick County Branch of the Blue Ridge Regional Library system.
“Photography is an inexpensive, pleasurable hobby, just carry your camera all the time,” said Hill.
Hill’s photography will be on exhibit at the Patrick County Library until the end of August.
