Mr. William Herbert “Junior” Roberts, Jr., age 51 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023, at his home. He was born in Patrick County on May 10, 1971. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Fain; his maternal grandparents, John Henry Gilley, Almarine Deal Gilley; his paternal grandparents, Elma R. Gilley, Jessie Herbert Roberts; step-grandfather, William “Bybo” Gilley; and his beloved dog, Hunter. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling and riding dirt bikes. He also had a love for muscle cars. He was a technician for Clark Gas & Oil Company. He was a member of Fairystone Church and was a great husband, grandpa, and friend.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Cathy Knowles Roberts of the home; two step-children, Brian Knowles (Shannon) of Floyd, David Knowles (Alyssa) of Meadows of Dan; four step-grandchildren, Connor, Caitlyn, Barrett and Harper Knowles; his father and step-mother, William Herbert Roberts, Sr. and Linda Spencer Roberts; his mother, Annie Sue Gilley Overby; a half-brother, Eric Baliles; a niece; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Fairystone Church with Pastor Barry Pilson and Pastor Kriss Foley officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
