Marilyn Barbour Cummings, age 87, of Patrick Springs, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.
She was born in Patrick County on July 11, 1929 to the late Andrew Lee Barbour and Rader Williams Barbour. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee “C.L.” Cummings; a son, Michael Cummings; and a brother Harold Barbour.
She was a member of Stella Christian Church and attended Patrick Springs Christian Church. She had worked in the cafeteria at Hardin Reynolds Elementary School for 10 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Leonard Lovell of Patrick Springs; four sisters, Lenna Martin and husband Rudy of Patrick Springs, Dorothy Via and husband Lee of Critz, Midge Tatum and husband Coy, and Phyllis Patterson, all of Patrick Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Patrick Springs Christian Church with Pastor Gray Sands officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Old Center Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
