Students at Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) may register for a Workforce Credential Grant funded program and pay only one-third of the cost of tuition upfront.

The funding is based on a “pay-for-performance” formula that requires students to successfully complete the course and obtain a certification for the grant to be fully awarded
Other financial assistance may be available to help pay for the remaining two-thirds of the programs. For many programs, training requires only a few months to a few weeks.
Following are six of the eight PHCC grant-funded programs and their start dates for classes. Two programs began January 9.

Certified Production Technician: January 31
Clinical Medical Assistant: February 20
Medication Aide: March 7
Certified Billing and Coding Specialist: March 7
Electrical Groundsman Training: April 3
Phlebotomy Technician: June 20
Research indicates that Virginia had more than 175,000 job vacancies for credentialed employees last year. For information or to enroll in these courses, go to www.patrickhenry.edu/workforce or call (276) 656-0260.
A program initiated by the Virginia General Assembly in 2016, the Workforce Credential Grant is designed to provide opportunities for students to receive training in high-demand fields, and receive industry-based certifications or state licensure.
Students must meet the requirements for in-state Virginia residency to participate in the Workforce Credential Grant program.
