Amy Cassie Willis Martin, 83, formerly of Hillsville, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, after a brief illness at the Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
She was born September 25, 1932, to the late John and Nancy Belle Bowman Willis in Patrick County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenville Everett Martin in 2012; parents, Nancy Belle (Bowman) Willis and John Willis; sisters, Ethel (Willis) Thompson and Annie Willis; and brother, Clyne Willis.
She was a 1951 graduate of Blue Ridge High School. She had worked for Spencer’s in the 1950s and again in the 1980s and 1990s. She had lived in Hillsville for 51 years and had moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 2015 to be closer to her daughter.
Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly Chism of Anchorage, AK; sister, Eulalia Arnold of Salem; sisters-in-law, June Semones of Williamsburg, Mavis Martin Puckett of Hillsville and Mary Willis of Ararat; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the Rome Missionary Baptist Church, Hillsville, with the Rev. Terry McMillian officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Lenville at the Bowman Farris Martin Cemetery in Fancy Gap.
