Patrick County High School’s sophomore wrestler Brian Lange (106 pounds) was the only Cougar to qualify for the VHSL State 3-A Wrestling Tournament held last weekend at Salem. Unfortunately, Lange was eliminated after two rounds.
In his first match, Lange lost by pin in 2:23 to junior Jonathan Walker from Bristow. Walker ended up winning the state title at 106 lbs. Walker had a record of 47-4 coming into the tournament; Lange’s record was 31-13.
In his consolation quarterfinal match, Lange lost by major decision, 11-2, to William Campbell, a senior from Poquoson High School. Campbell’s record going into the tournament was 28-13.
School officials congratulate Lange for representing PCHS at the state tournament.
