Tom Talks History schedule unveiled

The schedule for Tom Talks History for August-November is now available. All programs are free, and are held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Ararat Ruritan Club, 4753 Ararat Hwy, Ararat.

Dates and times are: 

August 9 – Tom Time Travels: Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Ocean and back. 

In 2022, Perry traveled across the country following Lewis and Clark’s expedition to the Pacific Ocean and back after President Thomas Jefferson’s purchase of the Louisiana Territory from France. Perry will share his photographs and stories from this historic expedition.

September 20 – The Legend of Ahart Ridge.
Tom Perry will release his fiction book about the Legend of Ahart Ridge, a folklore story about a witch who lived on Willis Gap. Taking real life people and stories, Perry will weave a tale with truth and fiction for Halloween.

Donations are welcome for the Perry Family Scholarship, which has donated $4,000 to Patrick County High School Seniors in memory of Erie Meredith and Betty Hobbs Perry.
A Blue Ridge/Red Bank School Reunion will be held on November 1, from 1 p.m. until. Anyone who attended Blue Ridge Elementary or High School along with Red Bank School, where Erie Meredith Perry was principal from the 1960s until 1988, is invited to come and reunite with classmates and teachers. The event is Free. Bring a covered dish and/or dessert. Donations will be accepted for the Perry Family Scholarship. Anyone with photos, annuals, or stories are encouraged to bring their items for display.
