Mr. Danny Jackson Hazelwood, age 71 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. He was born in Henry County on September 18, 1953, to the late Homer R. Hazelwood and Nancy Thornton Hazelwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his beloved wife, Patty Harris Hazelwood; and one sister, Donna Kay Hazelwood. Danny was known for his support and passion for music festivals at his cherished Wayside Park, both beach music and bluegrass. He also left a lasting impact on Hazelwood Trucking, a family business that was established over 65 years ago. But what most will remember fondly about Danny was how he lived and laughed, whether he was supporting PC athletics as everyone’s Papa or his sense of humor and laughter that created funny memories.
Left to cherish the memories of Danny are his children, Mike Hazelwood (Leigh Ann) and Misty Hazelwood, all of Stuart; and five grandchildren, Stuart Callahan, Lilly Hazelwood, Jackson Callahan, Jayden Callahan, and Lauren Hazelwood, all of Stuart.
The funeral service for Danny will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the High Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Danny may be made to the Patrick County Cougar Club, P.O.
