JV Girls Get Wins

Tuesday, September 2, the JV Volleyball Team took on the Lady Bengals of Bassett, winning 2-1 with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, and 15-7. Meredith Wood led the Cougars with 5 aces and 11 assists. Madi Martin had 5 kills, Reese Horton had 4 kills and 5 digs, and Sheyan Lester had 5 kills. 

The JV Cougars won in two, 25-19 and 35-13 at Carroll County, Thursday, September 4. Horton had 8 kills, 8 digs, and 2 aces. Bailey Thompson had 6 kills and 4 digs. Lester had 5 kills, and Wood had 15 assists. 

 

Golf Team Competes in District

The Varsity Golf Team played in an All-District Match at Olde Mill Golf Resort on Wednesday, September 3, coming in 6th with a score of 359, in a field of 7.  Caleb Vaught led the Cougars with a score of 84.  Parker Roop shot 90, Ben Joyce shot 91, and Kendra Worley shot 94.

Coach Philip Steagall said, “Caleb played a good round on a very tough golf course today.”  The JV Golf Team competed at Willow Creek, shooting a 172.  This gave the Cougars a 2nd place finish in a field of four. Jonathan Walton shot a 41 on the 9-hole course. Laine Errichetti and Anderson Brim shot 42, and Evan Eastridge shot 47.  

“Jonathan played a good round of golf today to lead us in scoring,” said Coach Steagall.
