Volunteers for the Woolwine October Festival Community Apple Peeling starts at 8 a.m. at the Woolwine Fire Department. Lunch is provided.
Thursday, Oct. 9
Volunteers for the Woolwine October Festival needed at 4 a.m. to start making apple butter at the old Woolwine Fire Department; 8:30 a.m. – Fried Apple Pie Making in the cottage. Lunch is provided.
The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce and Patrick & Henry Community College will hold a workshop titled “Taking Your Social Media to the Next Level,” from 12-1 p.m. at the Patrick County site. The cost is $15.
The Patrick County Senior Citizens group will meet at 11 a.m. in the Hooker Building at Rotary Field in Stuart. Entertainment will be provided by Johnny Joyce and friends. The menu is potluck, and attendees are asked to bring their favorite foods and desserts to share. Beverages will be provided.

Woolwine Annual October Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department grounds in Woolwine. Free admission. The Patrick Community Food Bank will distribute food boxes from 8:30-11 a.m. and again at 5-6:30 p.m. at 108 Commerce Street, from 8-10 a.m. at Fellowship Church in Ararat; and from 5:30 p.m. until all boxes are gone at the Community Building in Meadows of Dan. The Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission will be bringing the Mobile Museum Experience to Patrick County, in conjunction with the Town of Stuart’s Apple Dumpling Festival. The travelling museum, housed in an expandable tractor trailer, will be parked at 140 South Main Street, Stuart. The Mobile Museum will bring the spirit of the American Revolution to Patrick County through interactive exhibits, engaging storytelling, and innovative technology. This experience is provided free of cost and is designed to appeal to a wide audience, including families, students, history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning more about Virginia’s role in the American Revolution. Tractor Supply will host a Hometown Hero’s and Touch and Truck event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Hometown Hero’s program is available for all first responders, military current and retired and police officers. Signups will be held during the event.
