The Stokes County Arts Council will host local artists Rebecca Dresser and Mike Davis in the Apple Gallery on Main Street in Danbury, N.C., through March 21.

Rebecca Dresser prefers using watercolors, acrylics and photography to capture her passion for nature and animals.

She said, “Art, I believe, allows us to hear the call of the wild, to feel the rhythms of the world, to sense the beauty of the universe. Given the scenery and sounds I live with each day in Stokes County, my work tends to be nature-inspired, making use of the colors and sights of each passing month, whether I am working in watercolors or acrylics, or simply using my Canon camera.”

Woodworking artist Mike Davis said, “I work with local hardwoods crafting traditional joinery with mostly hand tools along with a few power tools. Occasionally I will use exotic woods for accents or where extreme durability is essential.”

In addition, the council will feature Lane Watson’s photography at the Hanging Rock State Park Gallery (Hanging Rock Visitor’s Center) 1790 Hanging Rock Road, in Danbury, N.C., through April 30.

Watson will be at the gallery on Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. for a “meet and greet” social. The public is invited to visit the Hanging Rock State Park Gallery to see his work and meet the artist.

Watson, fine art photographer and founder of The Backroad Studio, said, “As years passed, I recognized the rural, agricultural landscape of the American South was quickly disappearing.  To capture the essence of the region, I refocused my efforts to produce fine art photography I felt would be worthy of a broader audience.”
