Harvey Jackson Cassady, age 81 of Patrick Springs, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family. Born on January 17, 1944, in Patrick County, Harvey graced the lives of many with his friendly demeanor and infectious spirit. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jackson Cassady and Thelma Inman Cassady; beloved wife of 60 years, Kathy Anne Holt Cassady; son, Barry Jackson Cassady; and granddaughter, Megan Leigh Palmer. Harvey was known for his unwavering ability to connect with others, famously never having met a stranger. His captivating conversations often included jokes and light-hearted teasing, qualities that remained with him even in his final days. This ability to engage with everyone around him reflected his warm personality and generous heart. Whether he was tinkering away in his workshop or lending a helping hand to fix something for a neighbor, Harvey’s resourcefulness was admired by all who knew him. An avid hunter and fisherman, Harvey spent countless hours enjoying the great outdoors.

Harvey’s family was everything to him. He is survived by three loving daughters, Laurie Anne Cassady, Rebecca Gail Palmer, and Beverly Dawn Reynolds. He proudly watched his family grow, leaving behind grandchildren, Kelly Younger, Randale Palmer, Shea Reynolds, as well as a great-grandchild, Ti’Lee Hayden. He shared a special bond with his grandson, Jamir Leftwich, and is also remembered by two sisters, Lorene Martin (Ronnie) and Frances Roberson; brother Leon Cassady; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to honor Harvey’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Patrick Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Shaun Draughn officiating. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the services, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
