Roy McAlexander of Meadows of Dan died Saturday, November 15, 2025. He was born August 29, 1932 to Sarah and Dennis McAlexander of Laurel Fork. As a longtime resident of Patrick County, he was active in many community organizations such as the Meadows of Dan Volunteer Fire Department and the Meadows of Dan Ruritan Club. He served as the “coffee man” for 20 some years at the annual Pancake Days with the Ruritan Club. He was instrumental in reinstating the VFW Post 8467 in Meadows of Dan along with his good friend Rex Farris. He served as Commander, QuarterMaster, and District Commander. He was a lifetime member of the Patrick County Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard participating in over 1020 military memorial services.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother, Elmo McAlexander. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Willadean McAlexander. Children are Sue Perigen, Patsy (David) Harrell, Benton (Tammy) McAlexander, and Janice McAlexander. He is survived by 4 grandchildren Dennis (Shannon) Harrell, Brandon (Megan) Perigen, Rachel (Doug Wasson) Harrell, and Jamie (John Belshan) Perigen. His precious little great grandchildren missing PaPa are Cora Grace VanSutphin, Dorsie Harrell, Dawson Harrell, and Hudson Perigen. He is also survived by a sister, Rogene Nester, sister-in-law, Eunafaye McAlexander, nephew, David (Janet) Nester, and niece, Debra Nester.

A funeral service for Mr. McAlexander was held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors John Franklin and Howard Nester officiating. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial followed the service in the McAlexander Family Cemetery with full military rites by The Patrick County Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard.
