Submitted by Sandra Heath, Patrick County Cattlemen’s Association

The Patrick County Cattlemen’s Association met at the John D. Hooker Building at Rotary Field on Thursday, October 23.  Approximately 50 people attended and Terry Amos, PCCA President welcomed everyone, and George Stovall, Patrick County Extension Agent, Agriculture and Natural Resources discussed various programs.

The guest speaker for the evening was Doug Rowell, PAS, Beef Cattle Specialist with Performance Livestock Feed Company.  Mr. Rowell gave a great presentation on the differences in cattle feed values, also how to correctly feed performance feeds and why the cheapest feeds are not always beneficial.  He discussed the importance of high-quality feed for livestock performance because it directly impacts animal health, reproduction, and growth. Membership dues were collected by Sandra Heath, PCCA Treasurer and Kristy Hughes, PCCA Secretary, for the year 2026 and a great meal was enjoyed by everyone. For any questions, to become a member or to be added to the mailing list, please feel free to contact Amos or Stovall at the Patrick County Extension Office, 276-694-3341.
