James Richard Reynolds

James Richard Reynolds, 83, of Patrick Springs, Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Hannah Philpott Reynolds for over 62 years. Born July 10, 1942, he was the eldest son of the late Lemley and Louise Spencer Reynolds of Patrick Springs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds worked in sales and consulting in the forest products industry. He devoted his life to his faith, his family, and his community. Although he traveled all over the world for his career, in Patrick County, with his family, was where he always felt most at home. He never hesitated to help a neighbor, friend, or stranger in need. Mr. Reynolds was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and a founding member of Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a proud veteran, faithfully serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid reader and was often found enjoying a good book. His granddaughters were his absolute pride and joy.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, are two children, James Richard Reynolds II (Kimberly) and Jennifer Turner (Matthew); three grandchildren, Jillian Turner, Ella Reynolds, and Juliet Turner; one brother, Edgar Reynolds (Bea); two sisters, Marie Waller and Carol Faye Reynolds; and several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Patrick Springs with Pastor Joey McNeill officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant View following the visitation. Interment will follow at Foley Family Cemetery in Patrick Springs. Any donations may be made in his name to the Bookmobile at the Patrick County branch of the Blue Ridge Regional Library, P.O Box 787, Stuart, VA 24171, or Pleasant View Baptist Church, 4432 Pleasant View Drive, Patrick Springs, VA  24133.
