Barry Eldon Sheppard

Barry Eldon Sheppard, age 67 of Stuart, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026 at his home surrounded by family. He was born August 12, 1958, in Patrick County to the late Alvis Prescott Sheppard and Rachel Morse Sheppard. In addition to his parents, Barry is preceded in death by one brother, Danny Sheppard. Barry worked as a truck driver for Burgess Trucking and East Coast Leasing, and later hauled for NASCAR, working with Wood Brothers Racing and Richard Childress Racing, work he took great pride in. He loved cooking, hunting, and fishing.

Surviving Barry are his wife, René Pendleton Sheppard; stepdaughter, Caeley Coleman Soderlund (Bengt); two sisters, Janice Epperson (Gene) of Claudville and Susan Bennett (Johnnie) of Stuart; two brothers, Gary Sheppard (Ann) and Odean Sheppard (Donna), all of Stuart; three nephews, Caleb Sheppard (Stephanie), Mitch Sheppard (Chelsea), and Anthony Bennett (Jill); three nieces, Shannon Sowers (Wayne), Lynette Goins (Herb), and Kelly Lang (John); two great-nieces, Millie Lang and Audrina Bennett and a great-nephew, Westyn Sheppard. Additional survivors include Melanie and Gerald Culler, Kylene Parsley (Hank), Kaitlyn Hicks (Josh); Andrea Sheppard and Declan Sheppard; his two special dogs, Jay and Presley; as well as many special friends and extended family members.

A memorial service for Barry will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Five Forks Wesleyan Church with Pastor Michael Fain and speaker, Terry Amos officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church Thursday.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is assisting the family and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
