Annalee Banks Shelor

Annalee Banks Shelor passed away March 27, 2026 at the age of 94.  Annalee was born on January 4, 1932 in Floyd County to the late Oneida and T. H. Banks and was the eldest of 7.  In addition to her parents Annalee was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Shelor; a granddaughter, Kendra Shelor; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Bonnie Kipple (Jack), and Jeanette Barton (Wallace); brother and sister-in-law, Lowell Banks (Emma); sister-in-law, Jean Banks; brother-in-law, John Puckett; and special niece, Betty Combs.

Annalee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many.  Annalee graduated from Meadows of Dan High School in 1950 and Patrick Henry Community College.  In addition to being a fulltime housewife for a dairy farmer, she worked for the FBI prior to working for the US Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of Laurel Fork.  Annalee was a member of the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, played the piano, and sang in the choir.  She was also a member of the Women’s Club where she served as President for a number of years.  Annalee and her husband Dwight enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states, Canada and the Caribbean.

Left to cherish Annalee’s memory are her children: Jeffrey Thomas Shelor (Becky); Barry Wayne Shelor (Valerie); Robert Akers Shelor (Debra); 8 grandchildren: Jason Shelor; Stephanie Bakely, Matthew Shelor; Chris Shelor; Jack Ross, Gary Ross; Paul Shelor; Aaron Shelor; and 11 great-grandchildren Austin, Aiden and Madison Bakely; Christopher and Josiah Shelor; Ivy, Autumn, Owen, Hunter Shelor, Brooklyn, and Kolby Ross; two sisters, Bernice Puckett, and Patsy Kipple (Richard); brother, Bill Banks; special nieces, Sharon and Bob Helms and Cynthia Allen; and nephew, Wayne Combs.

Funeral service for Mrs. Shelor will be held Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Shockley officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 at the church.  Memorial donations may be made to the Meadows of Dan Women’s Club, c/o Carol Strickland, 3359 Belcher Mtn.
