Varsity Baseball Splits Week

The Varsity Baseball Team hosted Bassett, Friday, March 20, taking a 2-7 loss. The Bengals starter, David Cook, threw a complete game 3 hitter, picking up 12 strikeouts. Calvin Lancaster, Erik Tejeda-Martinez, and Jaiden Wilson got the only hits for the Cougars. Christian Hylton got the start on the mound, going 4 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking 4. Mark Register went 3 innings of relief giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

The Cougars took on Liberty-Bedford on March 24, winning 12-1 in 5 innings. Register got the start and went 4 shutout innings, giving up 0 runs on 5 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2. Greely Terry went 1 inning of relief giving up 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 1. Mason Cassel was 2-3, with 4 RBIs. Hylton was 2-3, with 2 RBIs, and 4 runs scored. Martinez-Tejeda was 1-3, with 2 RBIs. Noah Cain went 2-3, Jackson Callahan scored 3 runs, and Carter Gregory had 2 RBIs.
