Roy Franklin Haymore

Mr. Roy Franklin Haymore, 93, of Ararat, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, April 6, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Haymore was born June 11, 1932, in Surry County, the son of the late Rufus Franklin and Cora Ellen Isaacs Haymore.  Roy retired from Westinghouse after 20 years of dedicated service and was a faithful member of Mount Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dwaine Bowman of Ararat, VA; a grandson and his wife, William David and Felecia Haymore of Stuart, VA; a great-grandson and his wife, Brandon and Kathleena Haymore of Burlington; two great-stepgrandchildren, Hannah Smith and her husband, Aubrey, and Damian Beasley; and his adopted son, Wes Cooke.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Haymore was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosie Annie Bowman Haymore; a son and daughter-in-law, David Franklin and Carolyn Hall Haymore; and three brothers, James Haymore, Ray Haymore, and Joe Haymore.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Rickey Rogers and Dr. David Sparks officiating.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
