Varsity Girls Soccer Update
The PC Girls Varsity Soccer Team fell to Carroll County, 3-0, on April 27. Skye Ayers had 7 saves in goal. The Lady Cougars bounced back on April 30, getting a 7-0 home win over Floyd County. Kyra Titular had 4 goals with 1 assist. Elliana Montgomery had 1 goal with 1 assist. Alexa Rivero had 1 goal and 1 assist. Sydney Tatum added an assist. Ayers had 5 saves in goal.
Patrick County traveled to Radford on May 4, ending in a 2-2 tie. Camille Gonzalez and Titular had 1 goal each, and Tatum had 1 assist. Ayers had 12 saves in goal. PC hosted Martinsville, May 7, getting an 8-0 win. Tatum and Novella Nester had 2 goals each. Ayers and Dakota Boyd had 1 goal each. Gonzalez and Titular each had 1 goal and 1 assist.
The Lady Cougars traveled to Glenvar, May 11, losing 0-8. Ayers had 10 saves in goal.
Cougar Softball Gets Two Wins
On Tuesday, May 12, the Lady Cougars defeated Chatham 10-0. Jenna Woods went all 5 innings in the circle, striking out 5 and allowing 2 hits. Journey Moore went 4-4 with 3 triples and 3 RBIs. Hayden Lawless had 2 hits, and Lauren Hazelwood had 2 hits with a double. Ava Hiatt had 2 hits, Aubreigh Large had a hit with 2 RBIs, and Woods added another hit.
On Friday, May 15, the Lady Cougars defeated James River 4-3 on Senior night in Stuart. Woods pitched into the 7th, and Moore shut the door with bases loaded and no outs. Hiatt had 2 hits and a walk along with a triple. Moore, Hayden Lawless, Taylor Lawless, Woods, Chloe Hubbard, Hazelwood, and Large each had hits. Lacey Sutphin, Hayden Lawless, Taylor Lawless and Large each had RBIs.
JV Baseball Gets Wins
The JV Baseball Team got a 10-0 win over Radford in a 5-inning run rule game at home. The Cougars came out hitting with a 7 run first inning to cruise to the victory.
Ian Martinez Tejada led the way at the plate with a base clearing double in the 1st and 3 RBIs. Ben Joyce, Charlie Tabor, and Caleb Vaughn all added a hit and an RBI. Ian Baker contributed with a hit and 1 run scored. Brent Errichetti started on the mound going 2 innings, striking out 4, and allowing 0 runs. Levi Hankins went 3 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 0 runs.
The Cougars took on James River, May 15th, getting a 10-4 win over the Knights. PC broke open a tight ball game with 6 runs in the 4th and 4 in the 5th. Ayden Garcia led the way with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 1 run. Vaughn had 3 hits, a run, and 1 RBI. Hankins had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Austin Harrell had 1 hit and 2 RBIs. Baker had 1 hit and 2 RBIs, and Michael Eckman came up big with a hit and an RBI. Charlie Tabor started on the mound scattering 6 hits, allowing 3 earned runs, and striking out 8. Errichetti pitched the last inning. allowed no runs and striking out 2. Their season record is 12-5.
