Norma Ann Roman Sehen, age 86, died after a brief illness on May 20, 2026, in Richmond, VA. She was a proud coal miner’s daughter born to the late Mike and Julia Labroski Roman on July 20, 1939 in Burke Hollow, McDowell County WV. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Carl E. Sehen, step mother Mary Broski Roman, mother-in-law Faye VanSutphin Sehen, who she also regarded as a mother, and sister Olga Childress and brother Josh Roman.

Norma is survived by her son Carl E. Sehen, Jr. (Dennis Joebgen), along with daughters Cynthia Ann Sehen Burton (Mike), and Marlene Sehen (Mary Beth Wentworth). She is also survived by three grandchildren, Laurel Ann Burton Parker (Brad), Virginia Faye Burton Rowe (Garrett), and David Robert Burton (Olivia), and 7 great grandchildren, Jack, Wyatt, George William, Lucy, Emerson and Summer. Sibling survivors are Mary Jane Jones, Rebecca Quesinberry, Patti Clark, Mike Roman (Donna), and Tony Roman.

Norma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to not only her own children but other children in the community and through her work with the children of her church. She loved Jesus and sharing his story and love through service in several churches over the years, including 30+ years as a part of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church where she and Carl faithfully served in many areas.

Norma was a gifted cook, seamstress, bird lover, and master gardener. A truly nurturing person to people, plants and animals all around her. She was deeply loved by all and will be missed greatly.

Funeral services for Norma will be held on Sunday, May 24 at 2 p.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Knowles – Eden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Meadows of Dan Fire Department, Box 830, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120 would be a great way to honor her service.
