The PC Track and Field competed at the VHSL Class 2 State Championships at James Madison University. The Cougars had several All-State honors and top-eight medal recipients.
Sophomore Gracen Conner narrowly missed a state medal in the Girls 400m dash.
Conner finished 10th with a time of 1:02.89. She ran a personal-best 1:01.99 earlier in the season, putting her on the board as one of the fastest runners in PC history.
In the field events, Aaliyah Spencer earned All-State honors in the Girls Discus. Spencer placed 6th overall with a throw of 104 feet, 8 inches, securing a state medal.
Hunter Martin earned a state medal in the Boys 1600-meter run, placing 4th overall in a personal-best time of 4:34.81.
In the Boys 800-meter run, Fisher Martin finished 8th with a time of 2:03.41 and earning an All-State medal.
Noah Hiatt medaled in the Boys 3200-meter run, placing 7th in the state with a time of 10:08.65.
The Boys 4×800-meter relay team of Greely Terry, Hiatt, Fisher Martin, and Hunter Martin placed 4th in the state with a time of 8:20.96, earning All-State honors and narrowly missing a top-three finish.
The Boys 4×400-meter relay team of Glen Stovall, Aeden Frazier, Eli Slater-Hairston, and Terry also earned state medals, finishing 7th overall with a time of 3:36.03.
Patrick County’s Girls 4×800-meter relay team of Sarah Hagwood, Emma Purdy, Analeigh Jones, and Ellianna Montgomery finished 14th overall with a time of 11:25.26.
