An iconic Angus bull statue has a new home at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County and will be re-dedicated at 1 p.m. on September 27 during the State Fair of Virginia.
From the late 1950s until recently, the statue stood outside the Augusta County office of the Virginia Angus Association. It was purchased at auction earlier this year by a group of Angus enthusiasts as the VAA made plans to sell its office. Proceeds from the sale were used to establish a junior scholarship program.
The statue has been installed on a brick pedestal outside The Meadow’s Meadow Pavilion building, which houses agricultural exhibits during the State Fair. The re-dedication will be open to all fairgoers, and on September 28 the fair will hold its annual Angus Beef Cattle Show, starting at 11 a.m.
